Assistant Professor Computer Science – Software and Cyber Engineering
The Department of Computer Science, Engineering, and Mathematics at the University of South Carolina Aiken (USCA) offers a B.S. in Computer Science with concentrations in Data Science, Cybersecurity, and Gaming & Simulation, a B.S. in Software Engineering, and a Master’s in Computer and Information Sciences with concentrations in Information Technology and Cybersecurity. As an NSA Center of Excellence in Cyber Defense, our department has a strong focus on cybersecurity across programs. We are currently seeking applications for a nine-month, tenure-track Assistant Professor position in Computer Science, specializing in Software and Cyber Engineering with a particular emphasis on cybersecurity in software engineering. This appointment will begin on August 16, 2025, and is an exciting opportunity to join our fast-growing department.
Applicants must hold a Ph.D. or Doctorate in Computer Science or a closely related field from an accredited program by August 16, 2025; however, ABD candidates may also be considered. The ideal candidate will demonstrate both the qualifications and enthusiasm to teach specific courses in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, and Software Engineering. This includes required courses such as Software Engineering and Secure Systems Engineering. An active research agenda is expected, with a commitment to involving undergraduate students in research. Additionally, faculty will have the opportunity to collaborate with regional institutions, including the South Carolina National Guard, the U.S. Army Cyber Center of Excellence and the headquarters of the U.S. Army Cyber Command at Fort Eisenhower, and the Savannah River National Laboratory. Salary is commensurate with education and experience.
