The Barstow Community College District is seeking a full-time, tenure-track faculty member to join its Industrial Mechanical Technology team. The successful candidate will have a strong background in Industrial Mechanical and Electrical Maintenance, industry experience, and a commitment to professional development and community service. The Industrial Maintenance Mechanic Technology (IMMT) and the Industrial Maintenance Electrical and Instrumentation (IMEI) programs fall under the Trades and Applied Technology Pathway and include classes that focus on mechanical, electrical, and safety principles.
- Teach lecture/laboratory classes on fundamentals and practical applications of industrial maintenance, including mechanical, electrical, and safety principles.
- Participate in assessment, evaluation, and planning of Student Learning Outcomes and Program Learning Outcomes, Program Review, and Curriculum Development.
- Participation in student recruitment and articulation of transfer programs.
- Maintain currency in industrial maintenance and related areas and pedagogy.
- Collaborate with other faculty to enhance instruction, curriculum, and student success.
- Consult with students during regularly scheduled office hours.
- Enthusiasm for working with students having a wide range of skills, motivation, and academic or occupational goals. Use computer and multimedia technology.
- Serve as a member on District-wide committees.
- Participate in departmental matters, college, pathway, and discipline-specific professional activities.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Strong knowledge of industrial safety, OSHA, hand and power tools, PLCs, technical drawings, mechanical/electrical/pneumatic/hydraulic systems, technologies, motors, fasteners and anchors, rigging, oxyfuel cutting, valves, gaskets and packing, lubrication, material handling, pumps and drives, test instruments, and industry-related mathematics.
- Knowledge and ability to dismantle, repair, and reassemble machinery such as motors, pumps, valves, bearings, conveyer lines and palletizer, conduct preventative maintenance audits and perform repair, set-up for all manufacturing equipment, office, heating and cooling, and electrical systems
- Ability to communicate effectively and work cooperatively with others in a team environment.
- Clear and easily understandable written and verbal communication skills that can meet the diversified educational levels of the students.
- Experience with or interest in teaching using multiple modalities.
- Extensive knowledge in the field applicable to current industry standards is required as well as participation on advisory boards.
- Ability to read and interpret schematics, blueprints and other mechanical documentation.
- Knowledge of occupational hazards and experience with OSHA safety training, ability to observe and enforce safety precautions.

Physical abilities: Dexterity of hands and fingers to operate computer terminal; speaking and hearing to exchange information; sitting, climbing, lifting.
CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
This is a full-time, tenure track position. Placement on the Certificated Salary Schedule commensurate with education and experience.
