The Department of Business, Aviation, and Construction Professions at Dutchess Community College invites applications for a full-time, tenure track HVAC faculty position. This position has an expected start date in August 2025.
Essential Duties of Position:
Responsibilities will include the following:
- Teaching undergraduate classes in HVAC;
- Preparation and management of classroom experiences and assessments to develop successful learning outcomes;
- Assisting students in achieving academic success; and
- Participation in college activities, including membership on shared governance committees.
Job Requirements:
Required qualifications:
- Associate's degree in Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning and Refrigeration (HVAC-R) Technology from an accredited institution that is recognized by the United States Department of Education; and
- CFC Certification; and
- Eight (8) or more years of full-time equivalent work experience in the HVAC-R field; and
- An appreciation for diversity of all types and how diversity impacts learning and instruction.
OR
Documentation of significant and extensive experience or contributions to the discipline demonstrated through:
- CFC Certification; and
- Ten (10) or more years of full-time work experience; and
- Technical and performance competency, records of publications, or industry certifications; and
- An appreciation for diversity of all types and how diversity impacts learning and instruction.
Preferred qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Heating, Ventilation Air Conditioning and Refrigeration (HVAC-R)
- Demonstrated teaching ability in HVAC, evidenced by 5 - 10 years prior teaching experience;
- Experience utilizing Amatrol training equipment in teaching;
- College-level teaching experience, community college preferred;
- Certified proctor for EPA Section 608 certification exams;
- An understanding and appreciation of the role of the community college in higher education;
- Experience in using instructional technology in the classroom and a willingness to adopt new and emerging technologies; and
- Experience and familiarity with a learning management system (LMS) such as Brightspace, Blackboard, or Canvas.

This is a full-time, permanent position.
CLASSIFICATION / SALARY
Class: DUE / Faculty
Salary: $71,996 - $80,376 commensurate with experience and terminal degree.
