The Hong Kong Jockey Club Charities Trust (“the Trust”) has set up the JC STEM Early Career Research Fellowship for Translation and Application (“the Fellowship”) as a strategic initiative to nurture a pool of promising STEM post-doctoral researchers who aspire to translate scientific research into industry application. The Fellowship will provide comprehensive support and unique opportunity to help them develop their research and innovation career, expand their professional network and create social impact. The Research Grants Council (“RGC”) of Hong Kong is a Partner Organisation of this Fellowship.
Each Fellowship will last for a maximum of four years comprising the following –
- A stipend of up to HKD $530,000 per annum for three years, with additional 15% gratuity to be offered upon completion of the Fellowship (including the industry attachment when applicable);
- Academic development and exchange allowance up to HKD $30,600 per annum for three years;
- Research project seed funding up to HKD $300,000; and
- Translational research industry attachment subsidy in an eligible organisation in Hong Kong. The Trust’s contribution to be capped at 50% of the salary (up to HKD $30,000 per month) for a maximum of 12 months in addition to the three-year stipends.
Applications will be assessed and selected by the Trust according to the following criteria:
- Applicant’s academic and research record;
- Scientific merit and translational impact of the proposed research; and
- University's guidance and support to be provided to the applicant.
