Job Description SummaryReporting to the Sr. Director of Learning Design & Technology, the Associate Director of Slate Systems & Data Insights provides strategic, technical, and managerial leadership for the CRM, data, and analytics supporting recruitment, admissions, enrollment, and student success initiatives within the Office of Academic Innovation (OAI). This role leads Slate CRM architecture and governance, defines office data strategy and standards, oversees reporting and analytics frameworks, and directly manages systems and analytics staff, including leading the Data Services and Solutions team. The Associate Director serves as the senior authority responsible for aligning platforms, data practices, and analytics capabilities with institutional and business priorities.
Job DescriptionJob ResponsibilitiesStrategic Systems & Data Leadership- Provide strategic leadership and oversight for Slate CRM, data, and analytics platforms supporting OAI, including Slate and integrated systems.
- Define and maintain the long-term roadmap for Slate CRM architecture, data strategy, analytics capabilities, and platform integrations.
- Establish office-wide data governance frameworks, standards, definitions, naming conventions, access controls, and metadata practices.
- Ensure the security, privacy, and integrity of CRM and analytics systems by establishing and enforcing security standards, user access controls, and data handling protocols in alignment with institutional policies and regulatory requirements.
- Serve as the senior decision-maker for system design, data architecture, and analytics priorities across OAI.
Slate CRM Architecture & Administration- Leads the technical architecture, configuration, and ongoing evolution of Slate CRM instances supporting admissions, marketing, enrollment, and student success.
- Provide oversight and direction for complex automated communications, workflows, population logic, and third-party integrations within Slate.
- Oversee system administration, including user provisioning, role-based access, audit practices, and change management controls, to ensure secure and reliable system operations.
- Establish standards and best practices for data imports, deduplication, database hygiene, and lifecycle management.
- Serve as the senior subject matter expert on Slate CRM, evaluating new features, enhancements, and tools for institutional adoption.
- Translate business objectives into scalable system solutions and provide authoritative recommendations on CRM design and implementation.
Data Architecture, Integration & Quality Oversight- Provide oversight of data architecture and integration across Slate, Canvas, and other platforms.
- Define high-level data structures, flows, and system logic to ensure accurate, consistent, and accessible data across platforms.
- Identify systemic risks or gaps in data integrity, scalability, or usability and direct remediation efforts.
- Oversee test and production environments and ensure stability, performance, and controlled change management.
Reporting, Analytics & Decision Support- Set the strategic direction for reporting, analytics, and visualization across OAI.
- Oversee the design and maintenance of dashboards and reporting frameworks supporting recruitment, marketing, enrollment, retention, and program performance.
- Ensure consistency, documentation, and version control across enterprise reporting assets.
- Advise senior leadership using data-informed insights, including marketing performance, pipeline health, and enrollment outcomes.
- Ensure alignment between operational reporting needs and long-term analytics strategy.
People Management, Governance & Operations- Directly supervise and mentor the Data Services and Solutions team
- Set priorities, performance expectations, and workload distribution across systems and analytics functions.
- Oversee intake, prioritization, and resourcing of systems, analytics, and reporting requests.
- Establish operational processes that promote accountability, sustainability, and continuous improvement.
- Serve as escalation point for complex systems, data, and reporting issues.
Documentation, Enablement & Knowledge Management- Ensure the development and maintenance of comprehensive technical and functional documentation.
- Oversee the creation of institutional knowledge resources, SOPs, and governance documentation.
- Support data literacy and effective system use through standards, documentation, and collaboration with functional leaders.
Other Responsibilities- Perform other duties as assigned in support of departmental and institutional objectives.
QualificationsRequired- Bachelor's degree and 3 - 5 years of experience in CRM administration, systems analysis, data management, analytics, or related field or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
- Demonstrated experience administering Slate CRM or a comparable enterprise CRM platform.
- Experience leading or overseeing data governance, system architecture, or analytics strategy.
- Experience supervising staff or managing complex projects with multiple stakeholders.
- Demonstrated ability to translate organizational goals into technical and data-driven solutions.
Preferred - Master degree in Data Analytics, Data Science, Information Systems, CS, or related field strongly preferred.
- Experience in higher education admissions, enrollment management, marketing, or student success operations.
- Experience managing data strategy, analytics teams, or enterprise reporting initiatives.
- Familiarity with analytics and visualization platforms such as Tableau or Power BI.
- Experience overseeing integrations across multiple enterprise systems.
