Job Summary/Basic FunctionTo develop and teach Electrical Engineering courses; participate in EE curriculum development and ABET accreditation process; provide academic advising to undergraduate and graduate students; and assist with departmental academic services. (Fiscal appointment)
Minimum Qualifications - Earned M.S. degree by the start date in electrical engineering or a closely related field.
- Commitment to excellence in undergraduate and graduate teaching, advising and mentoring.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to provide academic advising and counseling in an ABET-EAC-accredited Electrical Engineering or related engineering program.
- Demonstrated ability to work in a team, plus demonstrated instructional development and delivery skills in Electrical Engineering/Computer Engineering/Physics areas.
Preferred Qualifications - Ph.D. Degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
- Teaching experience in a university academic setting.
Essential Functions and percent of timeInstruction and instructional support - (85%) - Develop, deliver, and asses undergraduate and graduate electrical engineering courses and laboratories, including curriculum development, instructional innovation, and supervision and mentoring of teaching assistants, as assigned
- Participate in and support departmental and program accreditation processes, including assessment, documentation, and continuous improvement activities.
Academic advising and mentoring - (10%) - Provide academic advising and counseling to students, to include mentoring students and supporting academic and professional development.
- Guide and support student activities and organizations
- The position will provide academic supervision, and professional guidance to undergraduate and graduate students, including supervision and mentoring of undergraduate students, guidance of independent study, research and senior design projects, as well as academic and career development.
- Supervision of graduate students including academic advising, career mentoring, and oversight of assigned instructional activities.
Faculty governance and service - (5%)- Participate in departmental, college, and university committees and contribute to academic and administrative service activities
