Position Information Open Rank Professor of Instruction The Klesse College of Engineering and Integrated Design (KCEID) at The University of Texas at San Antonio (UT San Antonio) invites applications for an Open Rank Professor of Instruction to serve as the Associate Course Coordinator for the engineering math sequence. This faculty member will play a central role in strengthening course alignment, assessment practices, and continuous improvement across EGR 2302 (Linear Algebra for Engineers), EGR 2313 (Multivariable Calculus for Engineers), and EGR 3423 (Differential Equations for Engineers)—all coordinated courses with common exams, shared learning outcomes, and unified assessment practices.

Klesse College of Engineering and Integrated DesignThe Klesse College of Engineering and Integrated Design (KCEID) is home to more than 4,400 undergraduate and graduate students in 9 undergraduate, 16 Masters, and 6 PhD degree programs. The college is supported by over 150 tenure/tenure-track and fixed-term faculty and a dedicated cadre of staff. Salary Range: $62,854-$97,011 annualized, commensurate with education, experience, and qualifications

Position SummaryThe Associate Course Coordinator will co-lead the delivery and daily instructional operations of the engineering math sequence, courses essential to student progress in all KCEID engineering majors.
The successful candidate is expected to:
- Coordinate, design, and teach courses in the engineering math sequence, ensuring high-quality and consistent implementation across all sections, and take the lead coordinator role for at least one course.
- Develop curriculum and teaching materials, emphasizing practical engineering applications that support student learning and prepare them for upper-division coursework.
- Collaborate with KCEID faculty teaching the engineering math courses to align learning outcomes, reach consensus on assessment practices, and maintain coordinated course policies.
- Recruit, train, supervise, and mentor teaching assistants and graders.
- Collect and analyze student performance and retention data, using evidence-based approaches to guide continuous improvement and reporting outcomes to college leadership.
- Coordinate with the Student Success Center on tutoring, peer support, and other student success initiatives.
- Engage in academic innovation, incorporating comprehensive pedagogy, research-based teaching practices, and technology-enhanced learning.
Teaching Load: 4-3 (4 courses in one semester and 3 in the other), plus service responsibilities. To maintain a full teaching load in semesters when all EGR math sequence sections are staffed, the faculty member may be assigned to support high-demand lower-division engineering courses (EGR 1343-The Impact of Modern Technology on Society or ME 1403- Engineering Practices and Graphics).
QualificationsRequired Qualifications- MS or PhD in an engineering or a closely related field.
- Teaching experience in higher education.
- This position requires the ability to maintain the security and integrity of UT San Antonio and its infrastructure.
Preferred Qualifications- Strong organizational skills for coordinating multi-section courses and supervising teaching assistants.
- Experience in curriculum development.
- Demonstrated use of student-centered pedagogical practices.
- Ability to support a student population across multiple disciplines
- Commitment to student success and retention
- Effective collaboration with faculty, staff, and students
