The Faculty of Agricultural Sciences invites applications for the position of a
Full Professor (W3) Technologies for Sustainable Water and Energy Use in Agricultural Systems
at the Institute of Agricultural Engineering to be filled by October 1, 2027.
The successful candidate will represent the field of Technologies for Sustainable Water and Energy Use in Agricultural Systems in research and teaching. The position requires a strong academic profile with demonstrated expertise in developing, optimizing, and evaluating technologies for sustainable energy and water use in agricultural production systems.
In research, the successful candidate is expected to conduct independent and internationally visible research and actively contribute to interdisciplinary research consortia in the areas of technical development, prototypical implementation, system design, and control-oriented optimization of energy and water systems in agriculture. They are welcome to make use of robotics and/or AI systems in their research. Participation in national and international third-party funded research projects is expected. Participation in the Clusters of Excellence “TERRA: Terrestrial geo-biosphere interactions in a changing world” and/or “GreenRobust: Robustness of plant systems from molecules to ecosystems” is also desired. The successful candidate must be willing to cooperate closely within the Institute of Agricultural Engineering as well as with other departments of the Faculty and university-wide research initiatives.
In teaching, the successful candidate will contribute to Bachelor’s and Master’s programs of the Faculty of Agricultural Sciences and participate in the further development of existing and new curricula, particularly in the field of sustainable agricultural and food systems. Expected qualifications include teaching competence, engagement in the supervision of Bachelor’s and Master’s theses, and active participation in structured doctoral training and early-career researcher development. For international applicants, the successful candidate is expected to acquire proficiency in the German language within a reasonable period of time.
We are seeking an individual with outstanding academic qualifications as demonstrated by high-quality scientific publications, and with strong expertise in the technical development and system design of energy and water systems in agricultural production systems, supported by model- and data-based methods.
