Klesse College of Engineering and Integrated Design (KCEID)
The Klesse College of Engineering and Integrated Design (KCEID) is home to more than 4,400 undergraduate and graduate students in 9 undergraduate, 16 Masters, and 6 PhD degree programs. The college is supported by over 150 tenure/tenure-track and fixed-term faculty and a dedicated cadre of staff. Each of the KCEID's five academic units brings unique value for advancing its mission—these include the Departments of Biomedical Engineering and Chemical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, and Mechanical, Aerospace, & Industrial Engineering as well as the School of Architecture & Urban Planning and the School of Civil & Environmental Engineering, and Construction Management. School of Civil & Environmental Engineering, and Construction Management (CECM)
The School of Civil & Environmental Engineering, and Construction Management (CECM) in the Klesse College Engineering and Integrated Design at the University of Texas at San Antonio consists of 36 tenure/tenure track and fixed-term-track faculty members and offers undergraduate degrees in civil engineering and construction science and management, master's degrees in civil engineering and facility management, as well as doctoral degrees in civil engineering and environmental science and engineering. Our faculty and students have been recognized regionally, nationally, and internationally for excellence in both research and teaching. Our research expertise spans a broad range of disciplines in civil and environmental engineering, construction science and construction and facility management.
Salary Range: $5,000 per course.

Position Summary
The instructor's teaching duties will involve but are not limited to:
- Developing lesson plans, course materials, and student assignments for the assigned courses.
- Providing classroom instruction.
- Assessing students' progress by grading assignments, papers, exams, and other work.
- Responding to students' inquiries.
- Providing advice/guidance to students on their courses and career plans.
The successful candidates will have expertise in one of the following areas:
Reinforced Concrete Design in civil/structural engineering at the undergraduate level with expertise in ultimate strength theory and design for reinforced concrete members, including beams, columns, slabs, foundations and walls. The applicant is expected to have ample experience in analysis and design of concrete systems.
Highway Engineering in civil/transportation engineering at the undergraduate level with expertise in general characteristics of highway design; horizontal and vertical alignment, cross-sections, earthwork, drainage, and pavement; and economic analysis. The applicant is expected to have ample experience in transportation engineering activities including highway design, material and construction specifications, and project management.
Design of Timber Structures in civil/structural engineering at the advanced undergraduate/master's level with expertise in modern design philosophy and methodology for timber structures, including flexure design, axial load design, and shear design of timber components. The applicant is expected to have ample experience in the analysis, design and performance of timber structures.
Water Resources Engineering in civil/water resources engineering at the undergraduate level with expertise in analysis and design of surface and subsurface water resource facilities, including the design of water supply, wastewater collection, and storm water systems. The applicant is expected to have ample experience in the analysis, design and performance of water resources systems.
Structures in construction management at the undergraduate level with expertise in the physical principles that govern classical statics and strengths of materials through the design of concrete, timber, and steel components of structures. The applicant is expected to have ample experience in design from the construction management perspective of structures made from a variety of materials.
Qualifications
- A Ph.D. degree in civil engineering or a related discipline.
- 2 or more years of practical experience in civil engineering or related discipline.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Evidence of integrating technology into instruction using emerging technologies.
- This position may require the ability to maintain the security and integrity of UT San Antonio and its infrastructure per Texas EO-GA-48.
Preferred Qualifications
- Ability to learn and use UTSA applications (e.g., Canvas).
- Willingness to work with others to develop joint courses and other educational programs.
- Ability to use AutoCad and code in Python, Mathematica or other computational tools.
- Willingness to incorporates active or experiential learning, or other evidence-based pedagogy.

This position will work primarily on the Main campus with remote possibility in Texas. Travel and parking expenses are the employee's responsibility.
