Department of Mechanical Engineering and Applied Mechanics within the
School of Engineering and Applied Science (SEAS) at the University of Pennsylvania seeks outstanding applicants for a tenure-track or tenured position at the Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor level.
The Department seeks individuals with a record of, or exceptional promise for, research achievement, a dedication to excellence in undergraduate and graduate education, and a commitment to building our scholarly community. A candidate's research must be centered in mechanical engineering, and their teaching interests should align with the Department's core educational programs.
We are particularly interested in applicants working in the broad areas of fluid mechanics and thermal sciences, including research with applications in aerospace, human health and physiological flows, manufacturing, thermal management for electronics and computing, energy, and the environment. We welcome candidates advancing computational and experimental methods, including multiscale simulation, AI-enabled modeling of physical systems, transformative flow and thermal measurement approaches, and autonomous experimentation.
The Department has grown substantially in recent years and is positioned to expand its impact as part of the
Penn Engineering 2030 Strategic Plan. Our faculty collaborate with researchers across the University and benefit from engagements with leading
