The UC Davis Library plans to hire a STEM Librarian for Researcher Services.
Along with their colleagues from the Researcher Services Department, this position will have the opportunity to develop an innovative suite of services to catalyze UC Davis research in the STEM disciplines, with additional emphasis on Engineering, Technology, and the Physical Sciences. This position will join a cohort of librarians who will enable researchers to discover and access relevant literature and data, analyze patterns of scholarly outputs in their disciplines, effectively manage their research data, better understand the needs of community stakeholders, and share the products of their research with the wider world.

Position Responsibilities:
Reporting to the head of the Library's Researcher Services Department, and in close collaboration with colleagues across the library, this position will contribute in the following areas. These areas of expertise are delivered through a diverse range of service modalities, which include research consultation, instruction, outreach, and special projects.
- Library Navigation Enable users to effectively navigate the library's collections, and connect researchers with the library teams that can best answer their questions. Consult with researchers as they navigate information systems at each stage of the research lifecycle, from literature discovery to sharing of research data and findings.
- Outreach and Needs Assessment Establish and maintain close ties with researchers in the STEM disciplines to better understand and meet their research information needs. Represent the library at outreach events and partner on initiatives designed to engage STEM researchers with the library.
- Systematic Search Work with colleagues to enable higher-level search, retrieval, and synthesis for both literature and data in the STEM disciplines. Extend the library's systematic and other comprehensive library searches for STEM researchers.
- Research Data Services Together with library colleagues, develop and deliver an integrated suite of research data services. Consult with researchers on 1) creating data management and sharing plans, 2) locating and accessing statistics and datasets in relevant repositories, and 3) selecting appropriate data repositories that meet publisher and funder requirements and facilitate more open and reproducible research.
- Research Impact Together with library colleagues, help communicate the impact and story of UC Davis' scholarly work using research impact analysis techniques. Partner with researchers, research groups, centers, institutes and departments to help communicate research impact to diverse audiences by providing an overall view of research publications and outputs by specific groups as well as demonstrating the impact of research projects to funding agencies when applying for funding. Additionally, advise researchers on successful publishing strategies, publication management and tracking, fostering an impactful online identity and evaluating research impact by discipline.
- Collections Draw upon experience and understanding of STEM researchers' needs to advise the library's Collection Strategies and Archives and Special Collections departments on the development of collections, particularly in STEM subject areas. Conduct analysis and serve on ad hoc task forces as needed.
